• In Dili we met the first two scholarship holders.
  • Again, medical clinics were attended in a number of centres and discussions held with the Dilor medical centre manager and doctor about requirements. Some medical equipment from Wangaratta was donated.
  • With help from local mothers, a kindergarten was established in a community building. Forty children attended, each with a parent. This was a great success and continued after we left run by volunteer mothers.
  • Schools received Tetum dictionaries, story books, a laptop computer and writing paper.
  • Consultation re teaching methods, and intervention in a number of Maths and English classes occurred and were welcomed.
  • Twenty Year 9 students received small encouragement scholarships.
  • A process was set up with the Senior Secondary Principal, to improve communication re annual scholarship recipients.
  • Tim Goodson, an engineering student, visited Lacluta and neighbouring areas. When fully qualified he hopes to join Engineers Without Borders and work in East Timor
